Outdoor Terrace WPC Flooring

Project Overview

This project is located on the rooftop terrace of a mixed-use building in Shenzhen, covering a total area of approximately 60 square meters. The owner wanted to transform the unused rooftop space into a multifunctional outdoor area combining leisure, gathering, and entertainment. The project uses WPC outdoor flooring as the primary paving material, complemented by WPC wall panels for surrounding enclosure and decoration, with a dedicated outdoor bar area.

Shenzhen has a subtropical oceanic climate with year-round high temperatures and heavy rainfall, placing extremely high demands on the weather resistance of outdoor building materials. The waterproof, anti-corrosion, and UV-resistant properties of WPC material make it the ideal choice for this project. The total construction period was 7 days.

Products Used

The ground features WPC outdoor decking with dimensions of 145×25mm in dark gray wood grain finish. The surface is treated with anti-slip processing to maintain good friction even in rainy conditions. The flooring uses co-extrusion technology with a high-density protective outer layer that significantly improves weather resistance and service life.

Surrounding walls feature WPC wall panel systems and WPC louver panels, serving both enclosure and decorative purposes while adding privacy to the space. The adjustable angle design of the louver panels allows flexible control of ventilation and shading.

Design Highlights

Clear Functional Zoning: The terrace space is thoughtfully divided into three functional areas: a lounge zone, dining zone, and bar zone, naturally separated through changes in flooring direction and elevation differences.
Outdoor Bar Design: The bar area uses custom-fabricated WPC boards for the countertop and surround, combined with embedded LED strip lighting to create a stylish outdoor bar atmosphere.
Integrated Drainage System: The flooring installation includes carefully planned slopes and drainage gaps to ensure rapid rainwater discharge and prevent water accumulation.
Green Plant Integration: Planting troughs are reserved within the wall panel enclosure areas, organically combining greenery with WPC materials to add vitality to the space.

Construction Key Points

The rooftop waterproof membrane must be inspected and repaired before construction to ensure it is not damaged
Flooring joists must use aluminum alloy material to prevent corrosion in outdoor environments
Flooring installation must reserve thermal expansion gaps of 3-5mm between each board
Wall panel fastening must account for wind loads with increased screw spacing density
All electrical wiring must use outdoor waterproof-rated conduits
