Modern Living Room WPC Slat Background Wall

Project Overview

This project is located in a modern duplex apartment in the core area of Shanghai. The homeowner wanted to create a visually impactful background wall in the living room with a 5.4-meter ceiling height. After comparing multiple solutions, our WPC slat panel product in deep walnut color was selected to complete the entire wall decoration.

The project covers approximately 35 square meters, including the main living room background wall and partial side wall extensions. The total construction period was 5 days, including base treatment, furring strip installation, slat panel mounting, and lighting commissioning.

Products Used

The primary product is the deep walnut WPC slat panel with dimensions of 195×26mm. The surface features high-precision wood grain embossing for a natural and realistic texture. Made from WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) material, the product offers moisture resistance, insect resistance, and flame retardancy, making it particularly suitable for large-area indoor applications.

A dedicated metal furring strip system and concealed clips were used to ensure no exposed screws on the finished surface, resulting in a clean and elegant appearance.

Design Highlights

• Double-Height Loft Design: The slat panels extend from the first-floor ground level to the second-floor ceiling. The 5.4-meter continuous vertical lines dramatically enhance the vertical sense of the space, making the entire living room feel more expansive and grand.
• Integrated LED Strip Lighting: Light channels were pre-reserved between the slat panels for embedded LED strips. Warm-toned light emanating through the slat gaps creates a cozy yet layered ambient lighting effect.
• Color Coordination: The deep walnut color contrasts sharply with the light-colored flooring and white ceiling, highlighting the background wall as the focal point while maintaining the overall brightness of the space.

Construction Key Points

• Professional scaffolding is required for double-height space construction to ensure safety during elevated work
• Furring strip spacing is strictly controlled at 400mm to guarantee panel flatness
• LED strip wiring must be pre-embedded and installed simultaneously with the slat panels
• All panel joints are treated with color-matched filler to ensure overall consistency
