Project Overview
This project is located in a duplex residence in Hangzhou where the living room connects with the stairwell, forming a unique double-height space. The homeowner embraces minimalist design philosophy and wanted to define the spatial atmosphere with clean lines and understated tones. We recommended a light gray PVC fluted panel solution, utilizing the distinctive ridge-and-groove texture of fluted panels to create regular, rhythmic vertical lines.
The total construction area is approximately 28 square meters, primarily covering the living room TV background wall and the stairwell side wall. From design confirmation to construction completion, the project took only 4 days.
Products Used
PVC fluted panels (WPC fluted panels) in light gray matte finish were used. The product specifications are 150mm wide, with a ridge-and-groove design that creates a natural vertical stripe effect. The material is lightweight yet strong, with B1-grade flame retardancy and excellent moisture resistance.
The surface features an eco-friendly water-based paint finish with a refined matte texture and comfortable touch, perfectly aligned with the aesthetic requirements of minimalist design.
Design Highlights
- Vertical Line Extension: The ridge-and-groove texture of the fluted panels naturally forms dense vertical lines that further enhance the vertical visual extension in the double-height space, making the room appear taller and more slender.
- Minimalist Color Application: Light gray sits between white and dark gray, neither too cold nor too imposing, while maintaining sufficient understated elegance. Paired with a white ceiling and light wood flooring, the overall space feels airy and serene.
- Stairwell Transition: The fluted panels extend naturally from the living room into the stairwell, organically connecting the two functional areas and avoiding spatial fragmentation while adding decorative interest to the stairwell.
Construction Key Points
- Fluted panel installation direction must be kept strictly vertical, calibrated with a laser level
- Angled areas in the stairwell require precise cutting according to the slope angle
- Panel joints must align the ridge-and-groove textures to ensure line continuity
- Inside and outside corners use dedicated corner pieces to ensure smooth corner lines
